Desi’s Birthday Week April 7-13.

Standard

The last morning that Grammy and PopPop were in town, it was pouring rain, so we decided to go to the PlayLodge.  It was a new experience for us and we all loved it.  Desi and Bekkett were LOVING the slides!  And of course, Des needed to have a baby doll with her at all times 🙂

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Bekkett loves Desis’ baby dolls and new toys probably more than Des does.  He was riding around on her “bike” and he was carrying her baby dolls and would try and make them ride the bike with him.  It was pretty darling.

WHAT A MESS!

My precious kiddos!  The first couple are of Desi snuggling stuffed animals at Play & Learn and the rest are of them both playing so cute together!

Desi’s {ACTUAL} birthday!  I can’t get over these pictures!  She is getting TOO big, TOO fast!  I am so grateful for that little nugget and I feel lucky every single day to have her as mine!  She seriously brings me so much joy.  Her cute little smile, her giggle and laugh, her following me around, how much she loves her brother and daddy,  her whine at daddy any time he comes home from work and walks past her…she is the cutest girl in the world, in my book, and this mama couldn’t be more grateful!  I LOVE YOU DESI RAE!

Desi AND Bekkett LOVED the cake and ice cream!  I bet you couldn’t tell! 😉

And a beautiful Saturday hike to Triple Falls.  It was seriously gorgeous {as you will soon see.}

And a beautiful Sunday, followed by the last she-bang for Desi’s birthday at Aunt SueSue and Graham’s house.  So much fun and an AMAZING week to celebrate 1 full year of life!  A-MAZING!

I think it is safe to say that she likes cake 😉

Growing pains.

Standard

It seems that as my kids get older, sometimes those growing pains are harder on me, as a mama, than they are on my kiddos.  We have really been wanting to get Bekkett a big boy bed for about 6 months now.  Oftentimes he would want Greg or myself to lay down by him while we said prayers or sang songs and in a toddler bed, that is quite difficult to do.  So, we have been saving, but we haven’t seen anything that either of us really love for a price that we wanted to pay.

The other day, Greg found an AMAZING website called Ana White.  She has hundreds of DIY projects posted to her website and they are SO EASY to follow.  If you have any kind of project {from building a bed, to a birdhouse to a treehouse, benches, chairs, etc.} you should check out her site!

ANYWAYS, we found on her site a bed that we loved and here is the process of it all coming together.  Image

Our 2 big “helpers” 🙂

And here is how it turned out finished:  ImageImage

Desi promptly climbed up onto brother’s bed and snuggled right in.

You can’t really see it very well, but the whole base is just cubbies to store things.  We have put some books in there, for now, but we need to find some storage bins to put some toys in, etc.  But, Bekkett LOVES his big boy bed and he said he slept so well last night.  It was so nice to be able to go in and lay on his bed with him while putting him down for his naps today.

Last night, my little mommy heart was just aching a little and I kept worrying if he was going to roll off of the bed, if he was going to be ok.  I then thought of these worryings as something so small and simple and looked into the future when my mommy heart would worry about much bigger things.  I was grateful for the simplicity of just walking into his room, pulling his covers back over his shoulders and giving him a kiss on the forehead as he slept.  Just that small act calmed my mommy heart and I slept well, as he did, last night.

Greg took down Desi’s crib today and we put her down for naps in the toddler bed.  It is hard to believe that my baby girl is old enough to sleep in a toddler bed.  Luckily she was super tired from church and she went to sleep so fast and easy.  We didn’t hear anything from her after I laid her down, so I wanted to go and see how she was doing…here is a shot of my precious big girl.

Where does the time go??  Sometimes my heart hurts a little because I don’t think it is fair how fast my littles have grown, already.  But I am grateful, some days more than others, that we are in this stage of life and most of the challenges we meet each day are pretty trivial.  I know that it will get harder, but I will rejoice in the little things, especially these 2 sweet things in my life!  SO BLESSED!

Prayer.

Standard

Such a simple thing, yet it can be so complex!  What a blessing.  I have 3 little snippets of JOY that have to do with prayer today.

#1:  Last night, while we were sitting down for dinner, Greg asked Bekkett if he would help him say the prayer.  Bekkett nodded in agreement and then as Greg started prompting him, Bekkett said, “No, I do it self!”.  He then proceeded with this sweet simple prayer, “Heavenly Fadder, In the name of Je-Christ, Amen.”  The simplest, yet sweetest prayer I have ever heard.  We were all smiles and I may have gotten a little teary eyed.  I was so proud of my little man!  SO CUTE!

#2:  Last week, my friend Megan gave a great lesson on prayer and it gave me an all new desire to speak WITH my Heavenly Father.  Which brings me to my next point.

#3:  I had the privilege of teaching with the missionaries today.  YES, we got Sisters in our ward and I am already LOVING it!  Such a beautiful opportunity for me to get involved in missionary service.  Anyways, the investigator we taught today is getting baptized within the next month or so, and she is GOLDEN!  But, she expressed how there are so many things that have happened in her life, especially since she started investigating the church, where she knows that God is talking to her.  {Which is the reason why I put in point #2 that I gave me an all new desire to speak WITH God.}  As she spoke today, I was so impressed with her relationship with our Heavenly Father and it made me want to have a closer relationship with Him, too.

Which brings me back to prayer.  Such a simple thing, yet SO COMPLEX.  I am excited for the coming weeks as I implement it more fully in my own personal life.

Bekkett is a rockstar getting his hair cut.  {I think it is because they bribe him with dumdums.} Anything for candy for this kid!

{DESI’S 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY}

I was so sad, we got to the park that we were doing Desi’s party at and it was SO COLD!  As long as the wind was not blowing, it was fine, but we got everything set up and it was so cute, and then everyone showed up and we were so cold, we decided to move the party to Aunt Sue and Graham’s house.  It was a VERY pleasant surprise to have Brent and Teresa show up to the party and we had a great time.

This first pic is of Zach trying to keep Desi warm while we set up at the park, and then the rest are of us at the house and Desi oping her presents and LOVING her baby dolls.

Image

Jen Soliai, my sister from another mister, gave me this AMAZING cake recipe and we each made one.  Hers is the beautiful shiny one and mine is the one that looks like a giant samoa cookie.  They both tasted amazing, but hers just looked so much better haha.

Needless to say, Desi loved all of the dolls and attention.

And so did Bekkett.

Bekkett was “sharing” the stroller he gave to Desi.

Before and After Cake and Ice Cream.

After the party and naps, we listened to conference and played outside all afternoon.  It was WONDERFUL.  And the cutest little ice cream truck came by, and continues to come by {I think because he made bank this day.}

My Mother’s Ring that Greg bought me for Mother’s Day {but that I got to wear for 2 months before!} I LOVE IT!

Cutest kiddos ever.  We are so grateful for Megan and Lizzie!  They are such great friends and we LOVE having them be a part of our lives out here!  They truly have become some of our best friends and I am so glad that Heavenly Father provided such sweet friends to be a part of our lives!  LOVE THEM!ImageImageImageImage

We love FREE Silpada jewelry!  And SELFIES!

This is our game of Qwirkle.  I was being a little bit competitive and wouldn’t give up some Qwirkles, so my sweet lovey made it work for me! 🙂  Even though I smashed him in that game!

And that is week March 24-30.  Stay tuned for more.

I know this is a SUPER RANDOM insert into my blog, but I HAD to put this one in for keeps, forever and ever!  This is probably my FAVORITE picture of my daddio that has ever been taken.  He just brings light into every room and he makes me want to be a better person.  His smile is contagious and he is faith, hope, and LOVE!  I am so grateful for him and I didn’t want this photo to get lost anywhere.

ImageImageImageImageImageImage

And another BEAUTIFUL day with my darlings!  We would take time after naps to sit on the front porch and watch birds.  One day Bekkett got to do it, and the next day, Desi got the chance.  We LOVE this outside weather! 🙂

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Playing on the front lawn is our favorite!  BESIDES Saturdays OFF of work, hikes, and pizza picnics in the backyard.

And that is our happy week of March 17-23.

My Kids are growing up WAY too fast!  I am not ok with this.

This weekend we went to the temple and the zoo with Zach’s family.  The kiddos LOVE to see their cousins and we love to have some time together.

We may, or may not, be obsessed with the zoo.  🙂

Now we will start updating the WEEKS.
