Moments.

Standard

So, after the past 2 days, I just HAVE to write and say how blessed I have been!  As I have been on this new adventure and journey in my life, I guess I never expected it to be so hard.  I was just so ready for something new, a change, that I didn’t foresee the struggles that I would experience.  And now, after being out here for almost 3 months, I am realizing some things that are blessing my life.

For the first month, I think I was in the “honeymoon” stage of our new adventure.  I had lots to adjust to, but I was also busy unpacking, cleaning, putting up pictures, making home feel like home, finding my way around town, etc.

Month #2 started to get harder.  I felt like I was a horrible mom.  I felt like no one had ever been in my position before.  I didn’t seem as happy.  I got super irritated at my kids over the smallest things.  When Greg was away, I wished away every moment until he returned.  I dreaded every morning, that I had to go through another day, seemingly all alone, until Greg would get back.

And now month #3.  I went to Norwex convention at the beginning of the month.  It was an incredible experience, and I learned a ton about my business and where I wanted it to go, but I also met and got to know some amazing people who have amazing insight to life and motherhood.

Just before conference, my friend Jaci gave me some recommendations for some parenting books, and then these new found friends at conference gave me more great ideas.

I have been reading about the law of attraction and how whatever we put out into the universe will come back to us.  She even says something to the affect that, we don’t have to understand exactly how the law of gravity works to know that it is working.  I don’t understand exactly everything about the law of attraction, but I do understand that it works.

I also have been reading a book about accepting our children for who they are.  Even though sometimes we don’t understand why they do everything they do, accepting and LOVING them for who they are will change them.

As I have been putting for the effort to be POSITIVE, I remind myself that I make my situations worse, just by thinking about how hard it is.  Yesterday morning I was DYING because I thought it was Saturday, and then I turned my thoughts around and just looked forward to every second with my cute kiddos and the day flew by.  Same thing today!  Bekkett woke up at 7:20, right as I was getting ready to feed Des.  At first I was annoyed at him yelling “Mama” about 100 times.  But, as soon as I thought that, I turned my thoughts around and felt grateful that he was excited to see ME!  Today, we had nothing special on the agenda, but it was a WONDERFUL day!  And it FLEW by.

Now I am in a predicament.  I want the days to FLY by so that we can be with Greg, but I hate to see the time fly by so fast because my baby is now 2 years and 2 1/2 months.  My other baby, whom I feel like we just had yesterday is 4 1/2 months.  Now what do we do now?

I guess I found in the past two days, what I have been needing for a while now.  Bask in the moment.  Enjoy each precious second I have with these kids, especially while they still like me.  Take time to enjoy this…

Every day doesn’t go perfectly, but in every day there are perfect moments.  And those moments are what I live for.

Day-before-the-trail: Round 2.

Standard

The day started out like most days.  Hanging out, Mormon messages, trains, playing with Des on the play mat and cheesing it, and being absolutely adorable watching “Georgie” on Netflix.

We didn’t do anything too special before nap times, but Greg had looked up the Asheville Tourists baseball game schedule and there was one last night.  So, while Bekkett napped, Greg had the great idea of making Bekkett an Asheville Tourists t-shirt.  We threw dinner together and scarfed it down once Bekkett woke up and we were on our way to the game.

Before we left, Bekkett grabbed one of Greg’s biking gloves and wanted to take it with us.  Who knows how he knows that it looks like a baseball batting glove, but whatev.  It was so dang cute.  He was on his way out the door, ran back in and grabbed the glove and said, “This too, mom!”  So, here are some pictures of Bekkett with his “baseball” glove.

He even put the glove on, all by himself!  he is such a smart kid!  {Notice his hair…I cut it myself!  Impressed?}

The best part about this whole situation is that all we had to do was take 3 old t-shirts apiece and donate them to Goodwill at the gate and we got in for FREE!  Pretty sweet!

We said 100 times that we needed to be sure to get a picture with our whole family in it.  Sure enough, we didn’t! :/  but we still got some cute ones:

Even though we got home late, and got the kids to bed super late, it was totally worth it.  I am so grateful for Greg and his sense of adventure.  And especially his willingness to exert extra energy so that we can have a great time when he is off the trail.  I feel like adventures are so tiring, sometimes, but not with him around!  I truly am SO grateful for him!  He is such an amazing daddy and I love him for that!

What shows he is such a good daddy?  Bekkett has been asking for daddy since the minute he woke up this morning!  I am grateful every day that he only has to leave a week at a time!  I keep telling myself it could be worse! 😉

Anyways, a little bit of our life!

Hoops.

Standard

Registering a new car in a new state can be a huge pain in the ass {pardon my French}. There are so many hoops to jump through.
-First of all we thought G had to have an NC drivers license to get his plates here so we looked into that, but found out he could go get it registered.
-He stood in line forever as they said he needed to get an inspection(which it says online that it doesn’t need an inspection until the firs renewal).
-He goes to get an inspection and fails inspection because the tiny is too dark, so he has to take the tint off(which is going to look silly).
-So now he has to take the tint off, go get it re inspected, go back and stand in a ridiculously long line to get his plates.
It’s just a crap shoot, I tell ya. They sure know how to burst a new car excitement bubble!:). Ok, vent over.

Saturday is a special day.

Standard

While Greg was out on the trail, we had told one another that we would both think of things to do while he was off the trail the next time around.  So, as the week went on, I sent Greg ideas of things I wanted to do.  One of the biggest things: hiking.  So we woke up yesterday and got on the road to a cute little hiking trail near us.

First of all, daddy likes to put Desi on Bekkett’s shoulders and let Bekkett walk around, while Greg is holding her.  I will have to get a video/picture next time, but Bekkett and Desi just giggle so hard!  They love each other so much!  So, we thought this might work a little better:

ImageImage

OK just kidding.  We didn’t let him carry her.  But it was cute to see him try to carry the pack on his back.

Getting ready.

“Is that your 4 year old in a pack on your back?” Haha!

I am absolutely in love with this pic.  Desi’s face is darling and LOOK at Bekkett’s smile.  Probably my favorite picture of Bekkett in a long time!!

Image    Image

I love my view.  I am the luckiest!

We hiked through some beautiful area and there were lots of information stands about how they do testing to make sure the trees are growing healthily, there were baskets to make sure that there were always a certain amount of acorns always growing in this “experimental” forest.  It was the first experimental forest in the US.  It was a really great hike and a great time to spend outside with my beautiful family.

As we were hiking, I told Greg that he was lucky that he got paid to do this all week.  I made Greg walk in the front of the line so that I didn’t catch so many spider webs in the face.  It DID remind me how much I hate spiders and bugs, in general, but I guess that is what I have to trade out in order to feel the peace and serenity of the mountains and forest.

We surely live in a beautiful place and feel lucky to have this experience!  Although I am missing home, we are happy to be here! 🙂

Field Trip.

Standard

Today we went on a field trip.  We found out about the WNC Nature Center in Asheville and wanted to take the kids to it.  On our way, I took some selfies(don’t judge), but as I sat there taking these photos, I was overwhelmed with how lucky I feel to be surrounded with darling kids and my handsome hubs!

Image

Once we got there, we were disappointed to find out that adults cost $8, but Asheville residents were only $6.  Then, I remembered that our zoo pass to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC had a bunch of sister zoos that we could either get in half off or free.  We asked the lady and she said that if we had our pass then we got in for free!  WOOT WOOT!

Once we got started, we surely had a great time.  Bekkett loves EVERYTHING about animals and so it was a fun morning at the Nature Center.

Image

He was so bugged by the fact that we put him on the turtle to get a picture.  He is so anti-photo recently.  Just being a turkey.  Surprise! 🙂

Image

We found a couple of caterpillars on the trails.  Cute little guys.

After the nature center, we went and got food from Sam’s and then came home for lunch and hanging out in the beautiful weather out here.

Desi is obsessed with her feet and is always playing with them, and brother is obsessed with sister.  It is pretty darn cute!  Every morning when we go get Des out of her crib, he always says, “Hi Princy!”, because I always call her Princess or Principessa.  Cutest big brother EVER!

Now, for a date night tonight!  Can’t wait!
